Objectives: introducing classical perspectives of society: critical con ict approach. Review the basic tenets of the con ict approach. Karl marx: he is apart of and examines class con ict and con ict theory, this theory explores how society is made up of competing groups. Comprised of people who are have"s" and people who are have not"s". There is friction between these two especially when the have"s" attempt to maintain their power which de nes society. This perpetual con ict and power imbalance between these two groups gives this theory the name con ict theory: key aspect is historical materialism. Inherent assumption that economic activities are the base that drives us. Economic activities are any activity that people engage in that helps them produce the necessities of life, not just including money. This drives peoples behaviours and controls human society.
