That which is above and transcends the ordinary course of nature, is of a higher realm. That which is not directly open to sensory perception or human control and understanding. Also refers to a variety of entities and forces - involves the spiritual or superhuman. All things that surpass the limits of our knowledge (includes the mysterious, unknowable and incomprehensible) Religion is source of community and camaraderie which links people together. Occurrences and experiences usually associated with the occult (hidden) e. g. ufos, psychic healing, reincarnation, esp, telepathy, clairvoyance, d j vu, belief in ghosts, etc. Understood as non-scientific knowledge lies above or beyond normal experience or scientific explanation. Ofte(cid:374) referred to as (cid:858)pseudo-s(cid:272)ie(cid:374)(cid:272)e(cid:859) is realm of superstition and myth, is false, product of delusions and mental illness. Mainstream science was dominant belief system in the west. Was based on rationality, empiricism, fact and scientific method. Paranormal beliefs remain popular and prevalent in the west.
