Canada used to be the #1 place to live and is steadily decreasing (due to the treatment of natives and child poverty) We can not just look at children, but them in the context of family to get a holistic view. Family no longer delivers emotional stability, more vulnerable and fragile society. As an advance industrial society we should be able to provide emotional stability and ensure from birth, early care and an ongoing socialization to become confident and healthy individuals.
