Document Summary
Social welfare is a system of interventions and constructs that support the well-being of people (political, economic, societal values) Social policy is a course of action that is chosen within a framework of social welfare (government) Social programs are the delivery of mechanisms of social policies (non-profit and public organizations) Work in government policy is very slow and comes from a very singular perspective that isn"t well-versed in policy impacts and state needs. In canada, the federal and provincial governments have complex relationships related to social policy. For the most part, the canadian government has more revenue generating opportunity mostly funds social programs. The provincial governments have more jurisdiction over social, health and education policy. Municipal government is increasingly in a service delivery role. Ontario is a province that can fund many social welfare needs, however the role of the federal government is very important.
