Document Summary

Social welfare is a system of interventions and constructs that support the wellbeing of people (political, economical and societal values) Ex. if the government wants to give more money to child welfare. Social policy is a course of action that is chosen within a framework of social welfare (government) Ex. who is eligible for money, requirements etc, government will sign off on this. Social programs are the delivery mechanisms of social policies (nonprofit and public organizations) Liberalism: believes that a country"s values are based on how they were formed and who formed them. When america was created by pilgrims, their economic belief was that if your farm and your crops did well, you were in god"s favour and a godly person. If you had a bad crop, it was on you, no one (especially the government) could help because they would be interfering with god"s will. The state had a role in providing some support for their citizens.
