Document Summary

Some terminology target population: consists of all subjects that are being studied. Sample population: group of subjects from the population. Goal of stats is to make an inference about data found inferential statistics: (ch. 6) consists of using a sample to make a conclusion about a population using probability the sampled population is the population from which the sample is drawn. Eg. if interested in average age of a mac student. Sampled population: everyone in this class sampled population should always equal population. Everyone in population should possibly be in sampled population. Quantitative variables: variables that can be measured; eg. height, weight, to use inferential stats, sample pop = pop age.
