For our purposes: those people whose gendered or sexed bodies challenge how gender, sex and the relationship between them are conventionally understood. Noble asks us to consider transgendered bodies as effects of the sex/gender system in crisis and transition. Theoretical gender binary can be put into crisis with the mere existence of transgender peoples. Butch = usually refers to a queer woman whose appearance and mannerisms are more in line with masculinity . Femme = refers to a queer woman whose appearance and mannerisms are more feminine . Imperialism = a belief in a nation"s superiority and sovereign right to expand its empire in its own economic, social, political and/or cultural interests. But, there is evidence that such ideas continue to influence the organization of social life in canada today (ie. lack of clean water, no mental health support, etc. ) Within this long and conflictual engagement, the gendered dynamics of colonized cultures were contorted .
