The muslim woman: the power of images and the danger of pity . Middle eastern worlds: they even make it hard for us to appreciate that veiling itself is a complex practice. Promotion of imperialist discourse -- brown women need saving by white westerners. The way these images are framed aim to encourage a reading that women are stuck in a backwards world. Repeated images employ to stand for a signifier of the oppressiveness of muslim world which can misrepresent vibrant and exciting religions. Addresses the concept of inclusive language regarding transgender and question what would be gained and lost by introducing new terms. Decision should lie with trans individuals; what is clear is that the choice of introducing, negotiating and using definitions should belong to trans communities. More attention should be given to self definitions of trans people . Helps make transgender people definable, recognizable, and visible, and includes them in social and cultural structures.
