Archaeological Indicators of Ritual Example- Rossano de Vaglio Sanctuary  4th century BCE - 1st century BCE  located in Southern Italy 1. Focus of attention: the structure itself- central altar in the middle of the courtyard (sacrifices, ritual activities take place) 2. Presence of the deity: statues of goddesses in bronze and marble (consider context- no statues in domestic spaces of the same time); 1000+ small terracotta figurines (could also be found in tombs and homes)- have specific characteristics which indicate they were dedicated to a goddess 3.
