Has had periods of ime where it maters more and less. Karl marx: trying to understand economic classes: capitalist economies: two main classes, not necessarily about money, but more so about the power that they hold. Class consciousness: do you idenify as being with a certain class: upper, middle, and working class in canada classes aren"t as prominent. Certain classes don"t necessarily align with certain poliical views. The media are owned by those who are rich, forms of power used to inform everyone else. The media is one means by which classes don"t really realize what they are (argument could be made) In canada, most people don"t think that deeply about inequality and where they lie on the social scale, and therefore doesn"t have that big of an afect on voing.
