A step by step procedure that leads to an accurate understanding of what is being studied. When selecting your variables it should be made at random selection. For example if you were testing university students at mun and you let people know your hypothesis, then that can effect them psychologically during your evaluation. Method : you want to insure that you have independent and dependent variable. Independent variable: the factor that is manipulated by you. The experimental factor that may change in response to manipulation of the independent variable. For example: if you were testing children"s iq between the ages of 3 and 10. The age would be you independent variable and, the iq would be your dependent variable. Experimental condition: the condition of an experiment that is exposed to part of the participants to the treatment. Control condition: the condition of the experiment that is not tampered with, contrasts with the experimental treatment.
