Esophageal sphincter blocks it when eating: peristalsis. Modified esophagus - bird crop: the stomach. Sphincters control movement in/out of gut: cardiac sphincter prevents chime backflow. Cuts bonds of aa, works best at low ph. Cells in stomach: gastric pits in wall. Duodenum - digestion & absorption: disaccharides break down carbs. Sa with accordion folds and villi: fats mixed with cholesterol & coated in proteins for transport. Active & passive transport chylomicron: pancreas - secretes bicarbonate & buffers acidic chime from stomach. Pigments - rbc breakdown, gives bile nasty colour. Stored in gall bladder - nasty green, holds onto bile. Pancreatic amylase: protein digestion, liver - produces bile, the large intestine. Intestinal flora: escherichia coli, generate gases. Biotin (b7), folic acid (b9), vitamin k: digestion of cellulose. Rabbits eat own poop to reabsorb nutrients. Hemolytic uremic syndrome - kidneys shut down and glomerulus blocked. Secretin - walls of duodenum, makes pancreas secrete bicarbonate, inhibits peristalsis.
