Did not make it clear if it was 500,000 total or an on going maintained total of that amount. By 1916 there had only been 250,000 amount of volunteers enlisted. Canadian core in 1917 - all four divisions- concentrated in this one area. Built scale models to plan attack - so complex. Makes it difficult to get over trenches without being shot. So they made tunnels- there fore they were protected and could move back and forth. Race to the trenches when you get out of the tunnel. 106 fuse- sensitive trigger which blows up the moment they hit barbwire. Gas masks now, making them suit up, hard to breathe. Germans could only bring up 3000 troops. Trained and sent to europe if you like it or not and if you are age and physically able.
