What kind of change: why study development, practical reasons parenting, teaching, coaching, mentoring, public policy child labor laws, children"s rights, family law, personality interest and understanding how has our past shaped us. Understanding how your life could have been different from how it is. Early theories of development philosophy: the big question: why do babies grow up to vary widely on many traits, original sin: everyone is born with a fundamentally selfish nature that we struggle to overcome. Development should focus on harnessing this evil (via spiritual training) Challenges in development represent attempt to overcome moral deficit.
