ANAT 101 Lecture Notes - Lecture 8: Brachioradialis, Coracobrachialis Muscle, Bicipital Groove
Document Summary
Chapter 7 muscles of the upper limb. Muscle will always pull insertion point to its origin. For testing purposes: know name of muscle and its action. Muscle classified on where it originates and crosses (it acts on the joint it crosses) Diamond in shape, big muscles, most of back, different actions depending on what part of muscle. Origin: occipital bone, spinous processes of thoracic vertebrae. Middle fibres: retract (adduct) scapula, pull in towards midline. Lower fibres: depress and upward rotate scapula, pull scapula down, rotates glenoid fossa upwards. Elevate scapula, pulls upper medial border of scapula. Origin: transverse processes of vertebrae c1 to c4. There is a major and a minor, hard to tell the difference because they"re so small, major on bottom, minor on top, rhombus shaped. Action: downward rotation and retraction (adduction) of scapula touching wings of scapula together. Finger-like projections, start on all of ribs 1-9. Insertion: anterior surface of medial border of scapula, inside of scapula.
