Document Summary

Made up of the cerebrum and brainstem. Picture a stock mushroom, where the stock is concealed (brainstem is concealed) Telencephalon (outer brain) -> boxing glove, thumbs down. Largest part of the brain, shaped like boxing glove with thumbs down. Is found in 2 halves, where each half is a cerebral hemisphere (r/l). Forms central core of brain and found near the base of the cerebrum. 2 halves, the r and l hemispheres which are separated by the longitudinal cerebral fissure. Often called sagittal" fissure as it is along the midline. Precentral gyrus (motor cortex) (found anterior to central sulcus) Postcentral gyrus (sensory cortex) (found posterior to central sulcus) Lateral sulcus most common gyri and sulci are prominent in all people, and can be used as anatomical landmarks. Lobes (named for bones of skull that lies overtop of them) If we divide the brain down the lateral fissure, we will see the insula. Gray matter (the cerebral cortex, unmyelinated axons)
