A law passed by appuleius saturninus called the lex frumentaria (grain law), all senators must swear loyalty to this law. Q. caecilius metellus numidicus (censor year before) refused to sign a pledge of allegiance for the lex frumentaria. Within a year caecilis was permitted to come back once saturninus was dead: metellus pius was metellus numidicus son who was his named after his devotion to his dad. Two consuls and they carried a law to send italians residents in rome back to their homes.
