Ruled by the diaphragm, causes logical rational, self- controlled behaviour. Ruled by the womb, causes emotional unpredictability because of hysteria. Making clothes, getting water, making bread, caring for young and sick. Hysteria: the womb moves around the body looking for moisture and disturbs other organs including the diaphragm. Caring for the young and sick was a highly praised activity if successful because it shows they are capable of more than men. Women leave the house on very rare occasions. If they were wealthy enough, they would hire a slave to do their outside work for them or wear a veil to create a portable domestic space and be shielded from the public and sun.
