Document Summary
Visual image and the mind"s eye: human vision is a very complex process. Illusion is the most interesting experiment of all which shows what we see is unreal, and therefore, what we see is actually what our mind shows us. Illusion and human vision: when you look at this 2d drawing, your brain automatically visualises is as a 3d cube. If you look at it for awhile the front surfaces change. In general, two eyes give two different perspectives which enable brain to compute differences (from edge, colour, shade, etc. ) and see objects in. 3d: the drawing gives two different information to our visual system which makes it confuse as to which face of the cube is at the front, when you add shade, the ambiguity is resolved. Psychological evidence for imagery: when the picture of the young girl is flipped upside down the image now looks like an old lady.
