COMM 153 Lecture Notes - Lecture 14: Critical Path Method
Document Summary
Project schedule management: define the activities necessary to create the deliverables, define the order that these activities need to be done in, estimate resources and time, develop the schedule. A common method, which we will use, is the critical. Fixed work: work is not changed, but the duration and resources are flexible. Fixed duration: duration (timeline) cannot be changed, regardless of the work and resources. Estimating durations: a significant challenge in project planning is determining (cid:498)good(cid:499) duration, different individuals have different expertise, different skills, different estimates (as well as cost estimates) timeline abilities, etc, multiple different ways for project managers to estimate duration. Task responsibility: making responsibilities explicit is very important, rasci matrix can be valuable (responsible, accountable, support, consulted, and informed, must understand interdependencies as well. How could this impact the project: need to understand what skills/expertise you need and for how long.
