Richmond tells his army that he has received a letter from a relative (stanley) giving him information about what richard is doing. They recognize that richards allies are only staying with him out of fear and will leave him when he needs them most. Richmond and his men march to meet with richard. Richard and his men set up camp for the night planning to begin their battle in the morning. Richard is sure that him and his men can win easily because there are more of them than richmond has. Richmond orders a messenger to deliver a letter to his stepfather (stanley)
