Possible heritage interest: worth looking at structural attributes of buildings. Depressed local property values catalyst for poor property standards. Human health and environmental risks: no requirements for site title (i. e dumping techniques of waste) Under-optimized infrastructure loss of tax revenues stigma if identified as brownfield and potential loss of community pride cost to cleanup and redevelop. Risk for human health: i. e kids playing in contaminated soil, growing vegetables. Risk from immediate exposure to contaminated soil: plants, animals, humans. Risk from substances moving from soil to ground or surface water. Concern of the toxicologist is to determine the risk related to any toxic substances that are likely to be found on the site in question.
