Its gadget city over at our house . We"re witnessing the transformation of the american living room into a multiscreen communication and entertainment hub . The entire family in their own media bubble. With their own private stream of entertainment and information media. Allows for customization but also can be isolating and interfere with family communication. Some parents are asking for kids to unplug and to have device free dinners. We gather together around and via screens . We all gather around our own media bubbles and communicate to each other through those bubbles. Media literacies embedded in everyday interactions and lifestyle activities. Kids learn how to use technologies through their parents and siblings. Digital literacy starts at home for the connected class. Intergenerational connections happen when there are meaningful opportunities and activities for interaction across the generations. Puts low income families, seniors and new immigrants at a disadvantage. We need to make sure that nobody gets left out .
