Is the capacity to do work: we see energy as light, we feel energy as heat, we experience energy as movement. Law of conservation of energy: energy can never be created or destroyed, but it can be transformed from one form to another and transferred from one object to another. Energy transfer: as heat, conduction, convection, radiation, as work( movement of mass over distance) Types of energy (chart: kinetic energy- is the energy of motion, light and other forms of radiation, heat, motion, electrical power, potential energy- energy that hasn"t yet been used, and stored. An object can store energy as the result of its position: reservoir behind hydroelectric dam, high pressure, five types of chemical potential energy: battery, gasoline, firewood, explosives, food. It takes more time for energy to warm water than to vaporize it. Work: work transfers energy by mechanical means, e. g. pushing a cart (cid:523) energy you"re putting in= work energy(cid:524)
