The mainstream paradigm assumes a modernization approach, and measures development through an economic lens: gross domestic product (gdp) a measure of the total production of goods and services in a country. Gdp per capita is a measurement of this divided by the total number of people in a country: gross national income (gni) a variation of gnp which removes indirect taxes. This measurement is used by the world bank: gini coefficient a statistical measurement designed to represent the income or (cid:449)ealth dist(cid:396)i(cid:271)utio(cid:374) of a (cid:374)atio(cid:374)(cid:859)s (cid:396)eside(cid:374)ts.
