Slaves against slavery: historians had the idea that slavery was a bonnie institution and that it did good to the salves (slaves were happy and grateful) in the 19th and early 20th century, 2 roots, 1. Slaves often resisted by suicide (idea that to die and the spirit will go back to africa), starved themselves, strangled themselves. Those who did not kill themselves prayed and sang together to raise and lift the spirits. Sometimes they were able to come together to rise in armed revolt (happened only a few times) Resistance in the new world: things like foot dragging, pretending to be sick, stupid, not understand the instructions given. The events: abolition of slave trade: slave trade: 1st comes to an end in the danish empire. Enacted in 1792 and comes into effect in 1803. They realized it was not pro table and wasn"t doing any good.
