Book of zohar (shining in hebrew: most important work in kabbalah, must be incredibly knowledgeable in order to study it, practical kabbalah is the description of the ways you can materialize immaterial forces. Islam"s attempt to integrate greek and roman philosophy into jewish works: most prominent jewish philosopher is maimonides. Philosophy tried to explain the commandments, which have divine origins, in a rational sense. Mysticism: unexplainable link to god, gain it by science, magical practices to god. These three (mysticism, theology, and philosophy) were marginal: philosophy was not necessary, neither was mysticism, but through hasidism, it made its way into mainstream. Golem movie: distinct physical borders between communities like big doors, invisible borders as well, how ghetto jews lived, jews saved the emperor"s daughter so he revoked his decree exiling the jews, golem saves the jews from anti-semitism. Also a symbol of power and defense.
