Identify the differences between how we imagine warriors and the roles that military leaders actually ful lled. Violence, combat, ghting for a cause, two (or more) sides in con ict. Technology: atomic bomb, wmd, hand weapons, tanks. World war i, world war ii, cold war, vietnam war. Primary sources: a document or physical object that was created at the time of study, sources that were present during the event. Secondary sources: interprets and analyzed primary sources, are typically at least one step removed from the time period. Fighting side-by-side or shoulder to shoulder with his men. 20th century senior leaders were not heroic warriors. 300: individual power and strength, ghts alongside, battle eld success until betrayed, close-combat, heterosexual masculinity.
