All kind of imperial efforts can combine with plan for resource extraction. Resources serve major drive towards any kind of imperial ambition. Imperial empires gaining wealth through processes of resource extraction. 19th century imperialism sometimes exercised with explicit goal of acquiring more wealth. Glory from conquering land, becoming monarch of ever-expanding territory, etc. Desire always there to dominate people, but process of domination is never complete. Colonizer might think they have dominated colonized group of people. Colonized group of people might think they"re helpless. History shows us that there"s always that crack, liminal space, etc. where freedom breeds. Where hopes, actions of descent, resistance, and desire to become free are nurtured. Emerging sense of belonging to a common body. Territorial expansion carried out in the name of the nation. Provides the need and means for achieving territorial conquest. Pronounced need for new types of sources and new markets.
