13th- mid 15th century religious art and architecture reflect what was going on in that fragmented world. Byzantine churches carry on the same tradition. Convoluted regional style takes over: the more elaborate brick work, fluted roofs, tall, complex/complicated plan of building itself. Church of the chora is still standing and can be toured. Some byzantine idea influenced things in the renaissance and vice versa. Byzantine style very influential- look at russia orthodox art very similar and largely influenced. The image of the resurrection of jesus- style of these late byzantine figures, more flowing and elongated. Heavily ornate and every ounce of the walls are heavily filled.
