Document Summary

To some extent, this is a million question: we would all like to know the answer, political change, does not mean changing the politicians in our government. It means shifts in power that make life better or worse for different groups of people. Many people agree that the secret to creating political change is to organize to develop strong social movements that demand change. In other words, successful social movements never lose sight of what they want and do not compromise their ultimate goals: political force makes change; persuading authorities does not. Successful social movements understand that politics is not a rational, logical process of weighing evidence and making the wisest decision. Government moves in accordance with the greatest force: the necessity of disruption. As a practice, charity is the voluntary giving of assistance, aid or help to those in need who are not related to the giver. As a virtue, charity comes from the latin word, caritas.
