Collection of programs, services, policies, delivered by the government, private sectors that focus on keeping the whole of population healthy. Health care- focuses on our needs as individuals and what we can do to restore or improve health. People who are less healthy put pressure and the health and welfare systems. Medical treatment increases costs for tax payers. People who have shelter, food, education, career, and income adopt healthier behaviors and have better health. Also having control over ones own life and future, as well as being loved and having friends. Health inequalities are also social inequalities, can be solved through public policy and collective action. Ideological perspectives the role and state of the individual. Models of policy process theories of risk and expertise. Debates between the freedom of the individual, the authority of the state, and balance between individual and collective responsibilities.
