KNPE 255 Lecture Notes - Lecture 11: Exercise Intensity, Vo2 Max, High-Level Data Link Control
Document Summary
Considerable heterogeneity in responsiveness of physiological indicators to regular pa. Age, sex, ethnic origin are not major determinants of human responses to regular pa, but pre- training level of a phenotype has impact in some cases. Familial factors also contribute to variability in training response. Heterogeneity and vo2max: differences not accounted for by age or sex: another study indicated that age, sex, race and baseline level to the trainablilty of vo2 max only accounted for 11% of variance. Heterogeneity and hr at 50w response: baseline hr strongly correlated with decrease in hr (40% of variance), sex=5%, age and race both less than 1, there is variation in trainability of max aerobic power and submax indicators. Heterogeneity and hdl-cholesterol: age and race were not significant contributors neither was sex or baseline hdl-c. Heterogeneity and systolic bp: baseline sbp important and age, sex and race were not significant.
