KNPE 365 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Transtheoretical Model, Wince, Motivational Interviewing
Document Summary
Mi was evoked from dr. miller during role play in norway. Early 1980"s: a time confronting denial and ready client therapies; developed for people who are in the ambivalence stage. 1991: dr. stephen rollnick starts mi training across the pond. 1993: project match: looked at people"s behaviour change in drinking behaviour, clients who were consider to be resistant responded best to mi. Instead of providing feedback (like frames) we give more of a summary. Mi is associated with small-to-medium effects across a variety of behaviours. There is high degree of variability in effects across studies (the results also depended on the environment in which that particular mi session took place in) Mi is significantly influenced by clinician and contextual factors of delivery. Effectiveness: research conducted under real world conditions (with real people!) Efficacy: research conducted under highly controlled conditions, most studies of mi are efficacy studies. Evidence from primary studies (findings in mi groups)
