Criminal organizations need a myth, a legend for their origin: Kabuki-mono: the origin of the yakuza can be traced as far back as to the year 1612 to men known as kabuki-ono (the crazy ones). Their odd clothing style, the distinct haircuts and bad behaviour, longswords, quickly got e(cid:448)e(cid:396)(cid:455)(cid:271)od(cid:455)"s atte(cid:374)tio(cid:374). They were known for their ruthless behaviour and for terrorizing all their surrounding areas. They were also well known for stabbing people for pleasure. Kabuki-mono gave their groups scary names and spoke in vulgar slang. Machi-yakko: yakuza however do not see kabuki-mono as their (cid:862)a(cid:374)(cid:272)esto(cid:396)s(cid:863) i(cid:374)stead the(cid:455) feel that the(cid:455) a(cid:396)e ma(cid:272)hi- yakko (city servants).
