Ludwig van beethoven, born in bonn in germany 1770. Came from a musical family: grandfather and father both musicians. Musically gifted child, father tried to turn him into the next. Beethoven"s teachers included his father, johann, christian. Gottlob neefe, and, once he moved to vienna in 1792, franz. Contemplated suicide shown in heiligenstadt testament: wrote in 1802, discuss the torture of losing his hearing. Despite success in vienna, he was beset by numerous romantic and financial difficulties: made money, not good with it though. Died of unknown causes on march 29th, 1827. Numerous smaller chamber works: for different instrumental combinations (duos and trios for piano and other instruments)
