Pythagoras studied stretched strings; known that musical notes caused by high vibrations. Kepler"s interpretation: used reasoning that since planets orbit the sun at different and varying rates and frequencies; must be producing music of the spheres (wtf) What are the laws of nature that govern the motions. Studied balls rolling on slopes and planes; watched how balls roll and pick up speed; how things actually act. Recognized importance of friction and air resistance. All falling objects behave the same way; objects dropped form tower of pisa hit at the same time. Introduced idea of relativity; all motion is relative. Is weight falling straight down or along curved path; depends on perspective. Behaviour of stones tossed in the air can"t tell us if the earth is moving or not. Introduced inertia; something in state of motion tends to stay in motion.
