Theme 3. 2 revolutionary times: copernicus and tycho brahe. In this panel, we see some important historical events and developments over the space of a couple of centuries beginning in the year 1500. We see literary, scientific, political, historical, and artistic developments and events of the time. Notice the grayed area, which represents about a century"s worth of developments. These correspond to the copernican revolution: the change in view of the nature of the solar system. The idea originated with copernicus who on his deathbed first introduced a notion of a heliocentric cosmology, a sun-centred solar system. Subsequent to that, important measurements were made by tycho brahe. And he had the good fortune to hire as an assistant, kepler, who analyzed the data for him and developed his laws, the motion of the planets and the solar system in the heliocentric model.
