This has popularized after 9/11, and is proven by the military and security budget of the united states even though there is no particular evidence that the trillions spent has provided more security to americans. Service station" state- suggested by philosopher charles taylor that individuals decide what services they want from the state, and those are the only things the government is to provide, in contrast to the holistic view of a welfare state.
