Document Summary

We learn a lot about how to act by watching and intimidating others: models. Caregivers are key early in life, and then more people are added (teachers, friends, etc. ) Attachment, temperament, and parenting style are also important in social learning. Especially when feeling stressed or insecure (helpless when forging for food) attachment: at first, it was believed to be all about being fed. Infant rhesus monkeys were raised without mothers (shortly after birth they were separated by their mothers) Cloth pads: for comfort and for them to snuggle with. Wi(cid:396)e (cid:448)s. (cid:272)loth (cid:858)(cid:373)othe(cid:396)(cid:859)/p(cid:396)o(cid:448)ided food o(cid:396) (cid:374)ot (cid:894)(cid:449)hat (cid:449)ould happe(cid:374) if they were startled, would they run for the cloth?) Results: cloth/physical comfort won every time, regardless of food. Shows that attachment is more then just food. The cloth mother was not responsive and none of the monkeys were well socially or sexually developed later in life. Was not good for any aspect of development.
