Document Summary
Each human is made up of 46 chromosomes; 23 from mother and 23 from father. Human genes are made up of dna, and genes determine our physical characteristics. Alleles: are the combination of more than one gene found at one place on a chromosome. The combination of gene version 1 and gene version 2 in an allele are what result in human traits. Single gene trait: traits that are affected by only one gene (anxiety) Polygenetic traits: traits that are determined by more than one gene (iq) Genotype: combination of 23 pairs of chromosomes (46 total)/dna from both parents. If you have two different alleles for one trait, you are said to be heterozygous for that trait. If you have two of the same alleles for one trait, you are said to be homozygous for that trait. There are two different resulting genes; dominant (brown eyes for example) and recessive (blue eyes)
