Classic test of when hum beings get/attain awareness that they are ppl/humans. Red dot on nose in front of mirror. Hum pass this self-awareness test and recognize themselves in the mirror at about 15-18 months. This is distinct to humans but not unique to humans. Humans are not the only beings that can recognize themselves. Most chimps recognize themselves, while lesser apes (gibbons) do not. This is imp bc w/o self-awareness there is no judgement. Set of ideas and inferences about self, including traits, social roles and relationships. These three things, in general, define your personality. After self-awareness is made salient, satisfaction with the self is significantly reduced.
