86 views5 pages

Document Summary

A clinically significant disturbance in a person(cid:495)s ability to respond sexually or to experience sexual pleasure: based on sexual response cycle. In dsm 4, there were separate issues for desire and arousal for women, but now it is replaced as 1 disorder. Not all of the sexual dysfunctions that exist are in this table: because they are not prevalent enough/not researched enough. Some of those researched in dsm (cid:886) fell out in dsm (cid:887) because it wasn(cid:495)t prevalent. This doesn(cid:495)t mean that the disorders don(cid:495)t exist! Females who reach orgasm too quickly may find it a disorder as well. Overlaps: enough: people can have more than one disorder. E. g. if pain is severe, the desire often decreases difficulty reaching orgasm. Primary: pain has always been there for as long as they rmb. Secondary: previously no pain but suddenly, things change: context. Generalised: feeling sexual desire for no one in particular/ for everyone.
