Look how people interpret and experience the situation. Individuals are socially constituted through shared symbols, creating situations, sharing interpretations and symbols. Imagining how to you appear to the other person. Makes you feel shame, guilty, happiness pride etc. We adjust our behaviour based on what we think other people think. People have social intelligence, how well people interpret and perceive symbols. Everyone participates in investing in meaning and creating meaning. Some symbols are significant for certain social groups. Humans act towards things based on their ascribed meaning. Meanings are handled through interpretation, can be modified. Humans have internal conversations with self to adjust to meanings and to fit themselves in new situations. More concerned with how the social shapes the self. The self is constructed through performances of self. Self does does not determine performance, performance determines self. Co presence with who is communicating, unaided by technology. We are the agents of our own acts.
