Document Summary

When bombardier went to market with the crj, Embraer was not a serious or even viable threat. But a mere six years after its biggest flop, the brazilian manufacturer had proven to the world that it could match the quality and production capacity of its canadian rival. What"s more, it had proven it could deliver its product for less. The e-jet caught on in a way few aircraft ever had before. By the late 90s, bombardier was struggling to keep up. A larger, more powerful crj made its debut at the turn of the millennium, but it wasn"t enough to turn bombardier"s fortunes around. The aviation world never took to the crj the way it was taking to embraer"s e-jet, which wasn"t only making inroads with budget- conscious airlines, but was also starting to feature prominently in big name fleets.
