Investigate it, then briefly identify some of the affordances of this platform and explain what
purposes it might be useful for OR why you feel it's not a valuable communication tool.
A new media platform that people may have not heard of is Wanelo. Wanelo launched in 2012
and has around 11 million users. The purpose of this app is to give people access to what is
comparable to a shopping mall on their phone.
An affordance of this platform from the buyer’s standpoint is that they can make wish lists and
connect with friends to see what items their friends are interested in. An affordance from the
retailer’s point of view is that they can see which of their products are “trending” and which
products are not doing as well.
The users of Wanelo have access to millions of different products, including those from online
stores, individual artists (similar to those on etsy), and big brand names seen in shopping malls.
Wanelo is very useful for people who don't like big crowds and long lines at shopping malls. It is
also useful for people to do all their shopping from the comfort of their own home, simply
through their phone.
