30/01/2013 The Huffngton Post Canada article “Telus Download Limits Reduced, Upsetting Home Internet Service Customers By Daniel Tencer December 5, 20112 Telus's mission statement is ―To unleash the power of the Internet to deliver the best solutions to Canadians at home, in the workplace and on the move.‖ The key take away from the mission statement is the focus on powerful internet service solutions for Canadians. The Huffington Post article informs us of a strong backlash due to TELUS’ download cap reduction. Even their ‖ Users of its highest-level service — Telus High Speed Turbo 25 — will see their download caps halved, to 250 gB from the current 500 gB‖ . The key strategic issue for TELUS is poor quality and high pricing. Their secondary concern should be their reputation in comparison to their competitors/industry leading to loss of market share. It is not enough to have a sound and optimistic mission statement. Strategic management should be implemented at TELUS to accomplish a competitive advantage. The article had comments of customers who were strongly offended by the limitations yet TELUS persists that they are maintaining a higher ground than competitors who actually charge for over usage. The reasoning behind this change is apparently ―to better manage internet investment‖ as explained by TELUS senior communications manager Shawn Hall. The company is in need of accessing their current service quality and position within the market and with the help of research
