Language: represents culture, norms, beliefs and values of groups and individuals. 4 views of language are that is it common-sense (expression of already existing facts), Western (language represents reality), buddhist (language blocks access to reality) and post-structural (language is reality, with reality being subjective and contextual) Case: individuals, families and communities that we are concerned with. Goal: object of effort (client goals statements of change) Outcome: what comes out of the treatment based on the goals. Evidence-based: has evidence to back it up. Life-space intervention: working with clients where they are, within their own life space, in order to make change. Care is a practice which makes it inherently political, implies dependency. Caring seems to involve taking the concerns and needs of others as the basis for action.
