For those of you that don"t know, the abc company and acme inc. are two of our competitors that were infected with malware on a large scale. This breach caused thousands of employees to be without email and other online services for up to a week. The it department has informed me that there are two major security issues within our company that need to be changed immediately in order to avoid a breach of our own. Stop sharing passwords with co-workers and friends. Do not download songs, movies, or other software that are not work-related. Malware has become a growing issue in recent years, with more sophisticated malware like cryptomatt being capable of stealing confidential information from infected machines whilst remaining undetectable. They can arrive as an attachment in an email, a file download, or on an infected usb. Although malware is easily avoidable, remember that nobody is immune.
