Sonic"s virtual lot application allows associates to instantly search for vehicles that are available in the inventory of all sonic dealerships. The application also gives them access to all the information about the vehicle, such as its price and interest rates. This is improving operational efficiency since the business is capable of delivering products and services to customers in the most cost-effective way. Another application called most is being used by factory operators to monitor production lines, which means that it is supporting the production function of the business. This application allows operators to do different things such as communicating with their managers using secure instant messaging. This allows the managers to make decisions faster and easier: identify the problems that businesses in this case study solved by using mobile digital devices. Before sonic developed its applications, dealers were limited in the sense that they could only sell from their own inventory.
